Editor's Note

Happy end of school and the start of Summer vacation everyone! This week's report covers 14 inspections across 12 establishments. One boba tea shop was closed after the inspector found the person in charge could not answer basic food safety questions, including hot and cold holding temperatures. Three establishments were cited for operating with expired permits.

Closures & Major Violations

These establishments were closed by inspectors or received violations serious enough to pose an immediate public health risk. Violations in this category include evidence of pests, improper food temperature control, contaminated food-contact surfaces, or conditions that create imminent danger to public health. A follow-up inspection is required before any closed establishment can reopen, and some may face additional scrutiny or civil penalties.

Kung Fu Tea — 4410 Wyoming Blvd NE, H
Inspected May 28, 2026. The person in charge could not identify any foodborne illnesses or state hot and cold holding temperatures. Tapioca boba was held at 127°F, below the required 135°F. The ice machine had substantial debris buildup. The three-compartment sink faucet would not shut off completely. No certified food protection manager on staff. No food handler cards for employees. No thermometer or sanitizer test strips available. The facility was using Clorox multi-surface disinfectant, which is not approved for food contact surfaces. An employee wore a watch and bracelets while preparing drinks. The establishment was operating with an expired permit. Closed. Re-inspection required.

Dashmart — 1431 Mercantile Ave NE
Inspected May 26, 2026. This was a corrective action compliance visit following a prior closure. The facility had its plumbing repaired and water restored, but the south bathroom water does not reach required temperatures. No paper towels at the kitchen handwashing sink. Debris remains inside reach-in coolers. Re-opened under Unsatisfactory status. Re-inspection required.

Conditional Approvals

These establishments remain open but were given conditional approval following their inspection. They were found to have violations that, while not immediately dangerous, require prompt correction. Each must address the identified issues within a defined window set by inspectors. Failure to correct the violations within that timeframe triggers a mandatory re-inspection and may result in conditional status being revoked or the establishment being closed.

Boba Tea Company 4 — 3339 Central Ave NE, #A
Inspected May 27, 2026. Gobi poppers were held at 58°F to 60°F, well above the 41°F maximum. The violation was corrected on site by discarding the food. A spray bottle of sanitizer was unlabeled. A soiled wiping cloth was stored in the handwashing sink. Two floor drains lacked adequate air gaps. No temperature logs for stored food.
