Closures & Major Violations
These establishments were closed by inspectors or received violations serious enough to pose an immediate public health risk. Violations in this category include evidence of pests, improper food temperature control, contaminated food-contact surfaces, or conditions that create imminent danger to public health. A follow-up inspection is required before any closed establishment can reopen, and some may face additional scrutiny or civil penalties.
Panda Express #1040 - 9500 Montgomery Blvd NE, inspected October 16. Inspectors found more than 15 dead cockroaches under the drive-through beverage machine, home-based pesticides in the facility, and quaternary sanitizer at the three-compartment sink measuring over 400 ppm, far above the permitted level. The ice machine had heavy organic debris on its deflector shield, and no manager on site could answer basic food safety questions. The result was Closure with Re-Inspection Required. An earlier complaint inspection the same day resulted in Conditional Approved.
Conditional Approvals
These establishments remain open but were given conditional approval following their inspection. They were found to have violations that, while not immediately dangerous, require prompt correction. Each must address the identified issues within a defined window set by inspectors. Failure to correct the violations within that timeframe triggers a mandatory re-inspection and may result in conditional status being revoked or the establishment being closed.
American Legion Post 100 - 424 Candelaria Rd NW, inspected October 14. Mouse droppings were found beside the bar refrigerator, a roach trap held several dead roaches, and the hot dog and popcorn machines carried dry old food residue. The facility must fix its pest control, seal 10 to 12 inch holes in the walls, and clean the ice machine interior.
Herencia - 11225 Montgomery Blvd NE, D, inspected October 16. The warewashing machine dispensed chlorine sanitizer at 0 ppm and leaked water from its fresh-water pipe. The can opener and food dicer had dried food debris on the blades.
Nagomi Japanese Restaurant - 2400 Juan Tabo Blvd NE, G, inspected October 14. The meat slicer and vegetable peeler had dried food buildup, spray bottles of glass cleaner and sanitizer went unlabeled, and tofu and diced red pepper sat undated in the cooler. Soiled wiping cloths were stored on cutting boards.
Ninos Brillantes Academy LLC - 1500 Coors Blvd NW, A, inspected October 15. The person in charge could not name the six reportable foodborne illnesses, state cold holding temperatures, or calibrate a thermometer. The facility also lacked a certified food protection manager and had an inadequate air gap at the three-compartment sink. It passed a corrective-action re-inspection the next day.
Panda Express #1040 - 9500 Montgomery Blvd NE, inspected October 16. See the closures section for this location's second inspection the same day.
Peter Piper Pizza - 9260 Golf Course Rd NW, inspected October 16. Five dead roaches were found in storage areas and behind the ice machine, condensation and ice dripped off the freezer onto open boxed chicken, and pasta dishes sat at 127 degrees in hot holding. The handwashing sink in the dough area was blocked and used to dump food debris.
Quick Track 88 - 12000 Menaul Blvd NE, inspected October 13. The food dicer at the Hunts Brothers pizza station had dried food debris, dead cockroaches were found by the ATM, and the store had no certified food protection manager and no trained food handlers. It passed a corrective-action re-inspection the same day.
Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant LLC - 6541 Paradise Rd NW, E, inspected October 15. Raw ground beef was stored above vegetables in the walk-in cooler, rice cakes and seaweed went undated, and an employee ate on a prep table. The front door stood wide open during the inspection. It passed a corrective-action re-inspection the next day.
Subway 25474 - 1306 Gibson Blvd SE, inspected October 16. Three dead cockroaches were found in dry storage, the walk-in freezer, and under a prep table, and shaved steak was held one day past its seven-day limit. The slicer, pizza cutter, and knife magnet were soiled with food residue. It passed a corrective-action re-inspection the same day.
Teriyaki Chicken Bowl #5 - 4700 Menaul Blvd NE, inspected October 14. Buckets of raw chicken thighs and soy sauce were stored on the floor next to the garbage can and mop bucket, and an employee moved from dumping raw chicken to another task without washing his hands. The facility was operating on an expired permit and had no certified food protection manager.
