Closures & Major Violations
These establishments were closed by inspectors or received violations serious enough to pose an immediate public health risk. Violations in this category include evidence of pests, improper food temperature control, contaminated food-contact surfaces, or conditions that create imminent danger to public health. A follow-up inspection is required before any closed establishment can reopen, and some may face additional scrutiny or civil penalties.
Sonic Drive In 8, 3110 Juan Tabo Blvd NE (September 18): Inspectors found rodent droppings at the ice cream sundae station, the coffee station, and the soda dispenser, with more than 100 droppings throughout the facility. Sanitizer at the three compartment sink measured zero parts per million, chopped green chile was held at 117 degrees, and the person in charge could not demonstrate basic food safety knowledge. Closed, re-inspection required.
Chicago Pizza Kitchen, 4300 Eubank Blvd NE (September 15): A floor drain on the main cook line overflowed sewage into the kitchen when the handwashing sink ran. Sanitizer measured 25 parts per million, hood vents were missing, and there was no allergen notice for unpackaged food. Closure, re-inspection required. The facility corrected its warewashing machine the next day and returned to Approved status.
Downtown Java Joe's, 906 Park Ave SW (September 14): The walk-in cooler ran at 52 degrees, holding dozens of items above 41 degrees, including smoked salmon at 63 and cooked chicken at 64. Green chile sauce sat cooling for more than three hours and never dropped below 126 degrees. Unsatisfactory, re-inspection required. The operator disposed of the affected food during the inspection.
Little Caesars, 10020 Central Ave SE (September 14): Heavy debris covered the can opener blade and housing, gray water leaked from the prep and three compartment sinks onto the floor, and sanitizer in a bucket measured over 400 parts per million. Unsatisfactory, re-inspection required. A same-day corrective action addressing sanitizer and handwashing brought the grade to Conditional Approved.
Little Caesars 511, 2801 Eubank Blvd NE (September 18): Cubed ham, chopped green chile, cooked sausage, and sliced pepperoni were held with no date marking. The three compartment sink faucet and spray nozzle leaked, and no thermometers were available in the walk-in or cold holding units. Unsatisfactory, re-inspection required.
Sonic Drive In 5479, 2119 Vista Oeste NW (September 18): The substantiated complaint cited dirty equipment, floors, walls, and drains. Sanitizer measured zero parts per million, and the ice cream machine and ice machine chute had heavy soil buildup. Unsatisfactory, re-inspection required.
Clyde Hotel, 330 Tijeras St NW (September 14 and September 16): Two permits at this location were reopened under Unsatisfactory status after substantiated complaints about pests, plumbing, and dirty food contact surfaces. The operator provided pest control invoices, replaced damaged equipment, and repaired plumbing. Both permits will stay Unsatisfactory for at least five business days pending re-inspection.
G & G Concessions Inc, 1601 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE (September 17): Rodent droppings were found behind equipment and at the walk-in cooler, quaternary sanitizer tested below 200 parts per million, and the facility was operating on an expired permit. Funnel cake batter held on ice measured 63 degrees. Closure, re-inspection required.
Chipotle Mexican Grill 1714, 6810 Menaul Blvd NE (September 15): The substantiated complaint found employees switching gloves without washing hands and touching personal items before handling food. No employees held food handler cards, and one worker prepared entrees in clothing covered in what appeared to be pet hair. Approved.
Conditional Approvals
These establishments remain open but were given conditional approval following their inspection. They were found to have violations that, while not immediately dangerous, require prompt correction. Each must address the identified issues within a defined window set by inspectors. Failure to correct the violations within that timeframe triggers a mandatory re-inspection and may result in conditional status being revoked or the establishment being closed.
Buffalo Wild Wings 610, 8505 Montgomery Blvd NE (September 18): Bar sanitizer fell below the required concentration and a bar floor drain was missing its strainer. The operator corrected the sanitizer on site.
Chicago Pizza Kitchen, 4300 Eubank Blvd NE (September 16): Chlorine sanitizer in the wiping cloth bucket and warewashing machine measured 25 parts per million. The facility needs to bring sanitizer within range.
Dippin Dot Ice Cream, 6600 Menaul Blvd NE, #8001 (September 16): The ice machine had heavy debris at the dispensing area, there was no certified food protection manager, and no employees held food handler cards. A separate closure inspection the same day found no chlorine sanitizer available at all; corrections were verified the next day.
Isotopes Park Ovations Sugar Shack, 1601 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE (September 17): Rodent droppings were found behind equipment, quaternary sanitizer tested below 200 parts per million, and the three compartment sink faucet leaked. A same-day correction to dispensing equipment kept the yellow sticker off.
Papa Johns' Pizza, 417 Tramway Blvd NE, 4 (September 16): Gray water leaked from the three compartment sink piping, which prevented proper setup of the wash, rinse, and sanitize sinks. No certified food protection manager on staff.
Perico's De Albuquerque, 1601 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE (September 17): Rodent droppings were found behind equipment, an insect electrocution device was installed above plastic wrap and sheet pans, and the handwashing faucet shut off after about two seconds. A separate closure inspection the same day required re-inspection.
Peter Defries Corporation (Dion's), 1601 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE (September 17): Chopped produce, cheese, and turkey in the walk-in cooler had no date marking, and prepackaged salad and fruit cups in the display cooler lacked ingredient and allergen labels.
Sandia View Fountain Hill, 4551 Vista Fuente Rd NW (September 17): The can opener had black soil residue and the facility lacked calibration logs. Both were corrected on site, and the facility returned to Approved.
Uptown Sports Bar, 6601 Uptown Blvd NE (September 18): The facility was operating on an expired permit, hot water was shut off at the handwashing sink because the faucet would not fully close, and flour and salt were stored in unlabeled containers.
